NEET (UG) 2024 Examination Overview

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially released the re-revised results, scores, and ranks for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) (UG) 2024. This update follows the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India.

Background and Legislative Framework

Since 2019, the NTA has been responsible for organizing NEET (UG) with the backing of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Ministry of Education. This move is in line with the directives provided under Section 14 of the National Medical Commission Act, 2019. The Act mandates a standardized NEET (UG) for admission into undergraduate medical programs across all institutions. This requirement extends to admissions for BAMS, BUMS, and BSMS courses under the Indian System of Medicine as per Section 14 of the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine Act, 2020, and also to BHMS courses under the National Commission for Homeopathy.

Exam Details and Re-Examination

In 2024, over 24 lakh candidates participated in NEET (UG), which was administered at 4,750 centers across 571 cities within India and 14 cities abroad on May 5th. A re-examination took place on June 23rd for 1,563 candidates who encountered issues during the initial exam.
