NEET UG 2024: Revised Answer Key and Results Announced
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the updated answer key and scorecard for the NEET UG 2024 exam. This revision follows a Supreme Court ruling, which dismissed requests for a retest despite some controversies surrounding the exam.
This year's all-India rank 1 is shared by 67 students, a record-breaking number. Interestingly, six students reached this top rank because they were awarded extra marks due to time lost from errors made by invigilators during the exam. Additionally, 44 students initially received incorrect marks for a physics question. After the error was corrected, these students were given grace marks, which brought their scores to 715 out of 720.
However, the rankings have changed with the revised results. The Supreme Court decided that only one correct answer would be accepted for the physics question. Therefore, these 44 students, now scoring 715, will be ranked after the 14 students who scored a perfect 720 and another 70 who scored 716.
The cut-off marks for general and general-PH category candidates have also increased this year. Last year, the cut-off range was 720-137, but it has now risen to 720-164. This change will affect the percentile scores, as they are calculated based on the highest marks obtained in the exam.
This year saw a significant number of students registered for the NEET UG exam, with 24,06,079 students signing up. Of these, 23,33,297 appeared for the test.
