Supreme Court Directs NTA to Publish NEET UG 2024 Results by July 20 Amidst Leak Concerns
In a significant development, the Supreme Court has directed the National Testing Agency (NTA) to publish the NEET UG 2024 examination results by noon on July 20, 2024. This decision comes amidst allegations of paper leaks in Patna and Hazaribagh. To maintain transparency and protect student identities, the results will be published with masked identities city-wise and center-wise.
Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, along with Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Mishra, emphasized the urgency of the matter, citing the disadvantage faced by students without their results. The CJI proposed using dummy roll numbers to ensure anonymity while displaying center-wise mark patterns.
During the hearing, Senior Advocate Narendra Hooda highlighted a fivefold increase in candidates scoring between 550 and 720 marks, suggesting potential irregularities. The NTA reported an increase in the number of test-takers from 17,64,570 in 2022 to 23,33,297 in 2024.
The Supreme Court stressed the need for a thorough investigation into the extent of the paper leak and its impact on the examination's integrity. The next hearing is scheduled for July 22, 2024.
